Overview

Several Communication Protocols and Technologies are used in the Internet of Things. Some of the major IoT (Internet of Things) technology and protocol (IoT Communication Protocols) are Bluetooth/BLE, Wi-Fi, LPWAN, MQTT, and COAP. These IoT communication protocols cater to and meet the specific functional requirement of an IoT system.

The course begins with a refresher on IoT, its architecture & components. As you move ahead, you’ll learn about the networking concepts, the layers of communication in IoT, and the components needed for IoT device communication. Next, you’ll learn everything about MAC layer communication, how RF communication is carried out between IoT devices, and how to use RFID & NFC for communication. The course will then demonstrate to you how to use routers and gateways for IoT communication and how to carry out Mesh networking in IoT. You’ll also learn how to implement WPAN-based communication, achieve communication through the WLAN protocol, and achieve communication through LoRa and LoRaWAN protocol which is low power & long range. How to enable Bluetooth/BLE for IoT communication. The course will also highlight how to integrate the cloud with IoT for communication. You will also learn how to achieve IoT communication using the MQTT and CoAP protocols, followed by a short conclusion.

By the end of this course, you’ll have a thorough understanding of all the concepts, components, and protocols needed for communication among IoT devices.
